The development department at the Rodale Institute is the heart of our mission, thus leading in fundraising, donor engagement, and community outreach. As a development intern, you will have the opportunity to learn event management, write marketing emails, assist with grants, manage donor relations, and partake in online giving campaigns.

Main Responsibilities

  • Assist with fundraising events such as Leadership Society Dinners, Organic Field Day, Seasonal Organic Dinners.
  • Support digital and print donation campaigns.
  • Work on Organic Hero Box campaigns from June through November.
  • Involved with outreach to alumni and Perennial Partners’.
  • Support in grant writing and donor prospect research.
  • Maintenance and updating of CRM.
  • Organizing and archiving digital and print marketing materials.
  • Support monthly renewal mailings.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications

  • Coursework in Marketing, Communications, Sales or Nonprofit Management.
  • Interest in organic agriculture, environmental sustainability, and food systems.
  • Superb interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Self-starter; enthusiasm to learn about nonprofit development.

Internship Specifics

Location: Rodale Institute Founders Farm, 2056 Minesite Rd, Allentown, PA 19103 (this is in person, no remote set-up)
Compensation: $12.50/hour or college credit
Duration:
Summer interns (20+ hours/week for at least 8 weeks)
Spring/Fall interns (15+ hours/week for at least 8 weeks)
